Training Specialist, National Outreach Volunteer Programs
Chris Boortz worked as an educator for 29 years in her hometown of San Diego, California. In 2010, she moved to Kanab, Utah, to work at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Her first role with Best Friends was as a tour guide for the Sanctuary. But she couldn’t seem to stay away from her teaching background, and in 2012 she took on the position of training specialist with the national volunteer department. Her focus now is on working with Best Friends Network partners to help them grow and improve their volunteer programs. She is also very interested in the connections among animal welfare, poverty and social justice issues. Chris lives with her wife and their four dogs. She enjoys gardening and is always eager to learn something new.
